Long Branch—Coastal Communities Family Success Center is inviting the community to help them honor Senator Vin Gopal and the Pascal-Sykes Foundation, from 6—9 p.m. on Nov. 1 at Long Branch’s historic St. James’ Church.
“We hope everyone will join us. The Senator and Foundation have given so much of themselves to the community and each have contributed to the success of families throughout New Jersey,” said CCFSC Executive Director Lisa Wilson. She added, “The evening will be filled with friends, live music, wine tasting, and lite fare provided by Christine Zeimetz, the Cookie Lady Cafe, Point Pleasant.”
Senator Gopal was born and raised in Monmouth County. Vin has served in a leadership role for many organizations, including serving on the Board of Trustees for Big Brothers, Big Sisters of Monmouth and Middlesex Counties, the Board of Directors for the Northern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce and as President of the Hazlet Business Owners Association. As Senator, Vin has sponsored bills supporting veterans, people with disabilities, healthcare, and small businesses. Vin was recognized by the Asbury Park Press in 2013 as a future leader to watch. He was also honored by the Monmouth Chamber of Commerce in 2014 with the Beacon of Hope award.
Sen. Gopal said, “In a world where violence and strife tend to dominate the news cycle, casting a dark pall over our communities, The Coastal Communities Family Success Center stands as a beacon in the storm. This incredible center, rooted in love and support, provides families with the tools and resources they need to foster stability, health and well-being in their home and their family unit. In helping families build that strong foundation, countless New Jersey residents are able to build healthy, happy and safe lives, and pass those tools off to the next generation. The Coastal Communities Family Success Center gives the gift of peace and safety. For that I am eternally grateful.
“I would also like to recognize my fellow honoree, Frances P. Sykes of the Pascale Sykes Foundation. Ms. Sykes’ dedication to serving her community has changed countless lives here in New Jersey. This is a very well deserved honor and I would like to extend Ms. Sykes my sincerest congratulations.”
Frances P. Sykes has served as the steward of Pascal Sykes Foundation since 1990. The foundation was the CCFSC’s first major funder and supported its mission for five years. Fran simply cares about families.
She said, “Years ago I heard about an organization in Long Branch that was truly eclectic. That agency brought local agencies together to share information and, where appropriate, to coordinate activities. The organization viewed individuals as whole people with multiple intertwined strengths and challenges. The organization recognized the importance of social capital or informal supports, beginning with family and close friends.
“That organization, Coastal Communities Family Success Center, has evolved over the years but remains true to its original precepts. Those concepts were groundbreaking ten years ago but are generally accepted today. I salute the Coastal Communities Family Success Center for its dedication and success but above all for its leadership in serving the families of the coastal Monmouth County.
I also congratulate Senator Vin Gopal, our new state senator, also being honored at the Coastal Communities Family Success Center gala. Senator Gopal has served this area of New Jersey on the local level for years. Now that he is our senator, I am sure his idealism, fresh leadership and dedication to families will support all New Jersey families for years to come.”
